I am constenly reminded of the incredible circle of friends I have... so many that it is hard to get enough thank yous to go around... some incredible highlight include suprise icecream showing up at the best possible time .. (Thanks Kay and Kat).... everything getting moved in a little over 2 trips... and a few awesome people hanging around to move things into just the right spot... really I am so overwhelmed with the amount of incredible people I know......and who like me well enough to spend there sunday helping lug my things, many of which lugged my things a year ago.. I am LOVED :)

And then there is the NAMI Walk.. our team raise over 2K, that is twice the goal that a team usually sets.. double the goal!  Another thanks to all those that contributed to the cause.. Will's team rocks :)  And I got to chat with Austin, we work in the same mall, who knew? Anyway another thanks to all

And then to the bragging rights.. at tourney I get my pretty little Kittyhawk... which makes me all grinny..I was holding Dot at the time so she got to come to court. People kept trying to offer to take the princess Dot from me... but I miss her so, so I held her as I got my fabulous scroll complete with a fox juggling eyeballs.. how perfect, thank you Dunstan!

I also was asked to be Baronial Champion.. I am honored, a little scared, feel a lot of pressure to get better cause now I am representing the best barony EVAH...so I got to be able to represent....Honnored that with so many great fencer in the area I was choosen.....Someone said that me and Martha flanking the court was definatly a happy bubbly addition.

Cause I like prezzies...

And agreed to post it for prezzies from [info]ignescent  (hopefully spelled right... evil is the way of spelling)

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:

- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done this year (2009).
- You have no clue what it's going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something over the internet. It may be a mixed CD. It may be a poem. I may crochet, knit or sew something. I might bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure! [not me either]
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

Here's the fine print:

In return, all you need to do is post this text into a note of your own and make 5 things for 5 others.

Snow!

For the second time this year the world of nc is filled with silent contrast.

The stark white against black and the deep winter green of the stately pine trees... all striped of their normal shadings of highlights and shadows. reduced  to a single shade... darkness or light. The only thing spared from the two-tone contrast is the millions of  greys in the sky....where all the highlight and shadows escaped to dance across the atmosphere, made even more vibreant by the lack of hue in the world below.

I love the snow SQUEE

Is it ...can be... I can has house too please?!?

Evidently the answer is .......yes! *SQUEE*

I am now in contract for a house in Parkwood!

When asking my father...should I do this.. all my friends are, and it seems like it is a really good time... and is a good time for me....

His response was... You have always danced to your own beat and just because all your friends are doing it, does not mean its a bad idea...and sometimes it is actually ok to follow the crowd.....

Sometimes my father knows me too well.....

More then Happy to give more details... but I don't want to bore everyone here! and sometimes it is more fun to squee about them in person..or phone... or personal email :)
So contact me if you wants to know more!

dog training advice

*Sigh* My dog is a free spirit and loves to play more then anything else in the world. He chooses to play over eating steak (and that is a rare treat) This probably doesn't surprise most of you... many owners favor their pets (although he does likes the steaks and I don't touch the stuff).

He managed to figure out how to break his collar last week and has gone to play "find the critter in the underbrush" for the third time in a week. One of his favorite game second only to "hide and come get me"...also known as" bet you can't get me"! He got away sometime around 7 and at 11:30 he came back...(meaning we caught him finally). And now he is so tired I can say the word walk and he kinda opens his eyes...but not all the way. Usually he is bouncing off the walls at the word W*A*L*K

So I am curious... when he comes back do I scold him for being a bad dog cause he was....or does that encourage him not to come back, or do I praise him for returning in hoping it will be easier next time. This is the only bad behavior that I feel I am at a loss of what to do about. He is so good otherwise......So anyone with suggestions.....He is a hound mix...so some of this is senting things instinct, but the rest is a game that he wants to play and I do not.....

Otherwise life is mostly good.... there are details there but.. well I don't post enough to get everyone caught up with all of them right now.... hope everyone else out there in LJ land is having a good day :)

I got a Hippopotamas for Christmas

Last year I had one of the worst Christmases ever! This year I have had one of the best :)

(yes I really did get a little plastic Hippo from Sarah, it is my present for the fact I was running around singing that song all last week and causing all kinds of ear worms)

#1 Thing that happened I made my sister cry!
I have decided that as a grown-up it is still fun to make my sister cry, but now I enjoy tears of joy...instead of those other kind.... I made her a bound book of images of her little one (my nephew, Skyler, for those keeping score)

#2 I had an amazing amount of really thoughtful gifts that I felt I was saying no you shouldn't have....in a real way in a why did you spend so much on me when you have other things that you should/could be spending it on way..... in a I cried twice on Christmas in a good way way.

And this would be why.... )

#3 I got to see my nephew in a peddle plane that matched my dads (down to over 80 ft of pin striping) that my dad made from scratch...or mostly there was a kit, but he made all the wood bits. It was great fun!

#4 Sarah liked her Wall-E and had no clue I had got the Etsy Necklace she wanted

#5 I was the best secret santa at my dad's extended family and got to hang out with my super kewl cousins!

And now I am off to my grandmothers house, which is over the River and through the woods for one more round!

Merry Christmas....and other various seasonal holidays to everyone!

I Spy

So I think the thing I saw an Otter or a mink crossing the road. It appeared to be jet black with a white mask, which is not the right coloring for an otter, but it was the right size shape and movement. If anyone has another suggestions because the colors weren't right. But the size and shape were right for an otter.......Thanks to everyone who has had ideas...please keep them coming if you think of something else.

Strange creatures in the night....(or late afternoon)

Ok Lj brain trust. Me and S. saw a critter crossing the street. I slammed on breaks and saw what looked like a giant ferret crossed with a cat. It about the size of a skunk long and slinky like a ferret, dark black and furry like a cat, Much smaller head then a cat, very weasel like and had a white mask. Any clues what/who this could have been?

Also I ran 5K. I did it.... 36miniutes. I didn't think I would be able to finish with out walking (especially after staying out late the night before)!  Geffri ran too. He likes 5K races I think. Although we were both hot and tired afterwards... I think next year sunscreen will be on my list of things to bring. Luckily it was only a little pink which is now gone.
Everyone did so well. Geva would be proud.

Water Water everywhere

I have put off so many important things this week to go boating. Went kayaking at the Eno, Saturday AND Sunday....

Saturday the River was REALLY high. Great fun, big rapids (yes on the Eno)

For those interested, the Eno did something like this this weekend (okay exactly like this)
http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwisweb/data/img/USGS.02085070.03.00065.2008.20080330.20080406.0.0..gif

Rick and I hit the river at almost 5 ft yesterday and 3.5 ft today. It is truly amazing how different the river looked yesterday compared to today. The Eno had been at 1.6 before the rainstorm.

We helped out a couple other boaters along the way today, & helped a little turtle who was on his way to falls lake weather he wanted to be or not. It was a snapping turtle the size of a quarter. I also got to get really close to a blue heron, less then 10 ft from the magnificent bird. They always remind me of prehistoric creatures when they take flight. It amazes me how well they are camouflaged in the trees. They are huge and can completely disappear if they perch on a branch.

That has been this weekends adventure... can I have another day off to get the grown-up things done that I put off?

oh-well, It's been totally worth it!

I need your help

They are everywhere! They are slowly gathering power and must be stopped! The only way to keep them from gaining power is to keep them off the ground. That is where all the squirrel gather up their evil power. If allowed to go on like this, they shall surely become strong enough to take over the world.  No one will be safe from their twitchy little tails. THEY MUST BE STOPPED. So please band together with me, join my force and chase those little nut-eaters up the trees where they belong. Protect the people from the evil fate of squirrel take over!

Your Kidding Right?

So I put in my notice that I was not renewing my lease yesterday (a month before I had to). I thought I was being nice... I just got a phone call that the office would be inspecting my apartment tomorrow, and after that I should periodically expect people to be able to stop by to inspect my apartment b/c they might want to rent it. I ask "Can this be put off till next week." "No, this is how we do business. We give you 24 hours notice. I have seen worse trust me." "But I am not a good house keeper and would like a week before random strangers are seeing my house." "No, they usually picture there own things there." I have never had people show the apartment to strangers with stuff still in it. Especially when there are 3 month before the lease ends. Plus I have a dog... this means that I don't want him freaking out as random people enter my home randomly without me. I am not usually possessive of my space but come on people!

Life is Good

Ymir was amazing event. I had a great time

Hung out at troll for a few hours learned many people's "real" name

Went to fencing: first pairing I had was Stacy.. who beat me and went on to continue kicking butts and taking names till he won the tourney! ... Go K-fectors go k-fectors go!.... was a little sad that I kept getting paired with the K-bergers who I fight with all the time... but went to the pick up field and fought new interesting people (but not Conner) and got some good advice from many ...fought and had fun till I could fight no more. I really liked the set up of the tourney, more fun then last year, more opportunities to play.

Didn't plan to go to court but glad I caught most of it. It was funny and I could even hear most of it. So many people who I think are amazing got well earned awards.. go y'all!

Had a great feast and good chats with friends. Some of which gave me homemade kahluah... note to self homemade kahluah has caffeine and should not be drunk until the wee hours of the mourning if one want to sleep at all that nigh... oh well...it was worth it :)

The bardic was great..we have so many talented people who know how to weave wonderful tale, and make beautiful music... and I managed to tell a story while I was rather hmmm.... not sober. I might have to see if someone was there that heard me to see if I pulled it off or not. Dervila was there telling stories which is always fun and we all sat on the floor and it was like old times. Got part of the "Darling...Idiot" story told and the baby alligator *click click click*......Hung out and talked with a small group of people once the bardic split for the night. It was great fun...

Went two breakfasts the next day... a day with 2 breakys can never be bad..

good friend + good chats + good funs + great event =
Happy spyderbugs
